It’s the oldest racing fixture at Perth and the final one of the year; get ready for the two-day Glorious Finale of horse racing at Perth Racecourse.

Come along dressed in your finest tweeds for a racing fixture that first took place way back in 1908. Over the two days, they will take a look back at their highlights of the year while watching thirteen races across both afternoons.

This year, there has been a huge cash injection which has seen prize money on day one shoot up to £70,000 and day two rise to £65,000 – both had a total of £45,000 each last year!

On day one, the two-mile handicap chase is now no longer just for novices, in a bid to increase the size of the field. This is supported by a Class 3 handicap hurdle as well as five other competitive and exciting races to kick-off proceedings on the first day of our final fixture.

Last year, Brian Hughes was the jockey to follow on day one as he landed a 78/1 treble – who will it be this year?

A top drawer day of racing is in store for day two of the Glorious Finale, with top jockeys, horses and trainers from across the UK and Ireland flocking to Perth to win a share of the £65,000 prize pot.

On this race day back in 2000, Grand National hero Bindaree made a winning debut over fences. He now has his name etched in Perth Racecourse history with Café Bindaree in the Grandstand enclosure named after him!

The two-mile handicap hurdle has been named after local trainer Nick Alexander’s horse, Jetmaster, after he won the race for the third time in-a-row last year with daughter Lucy Alexander in the saddle.

Over the years, top horses such as Ballyandy and Fagan have competed in and won the £16,000 novices’ chase which is staged on day two, so who knows what rising star of the future will come good this time?

To top it all off, after two great days of racing and a full year of thrilling competition at Perth, The Corra Band will be live in The Barn after the final race on day two to see out 2018 and get you excited for next season’s racing at the UK’s most northerly track.

What a year – where has the time gone! They’ll see you again in 2019!
