Perth's BIGGEST ever Christmas party took place this weekend!

19 November 2018

Perth's annual Christmas party got the festive season off to a great start in the fair city, with thousands of people visiting on Saturday 17 November to enjoy free entertainment, live music, and a fantastic atmosphere. This year’s Christmas lights switch on officially became Perth’s BIGGEST EVER Christmas party, firmly putting Perth on the map as the place to be this festive season!

The streets of Perth were lined with street food vendors, fun fair rides, ice sculptures, street performers and a Christmas parade. The world of entertainment rocked up in the Fair City to help welcome in the festive season and lit up the city's streets with Christmas colour with Stephen Mulhern, Pixie Lott and James Arthur headlining the main stage.

This year the festivities carried on throughout the weekend with a chocolate and gin festival, zuppa soup competition, International Christmas market and Cake Fest taking place in Horsecross plaza which brought the crowds in from all over Scotland.

It was fantastic to see so many smiley happy faces from both locals and tourists who had gathered in Perth to kick off the festive season.

Councillor Murray Lyle, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, said: "I want to say a huge thank you to all the Council staff, performers and visitors who helped make Saturday's Christmas Lights Switch-On event another massive success. The buzz in the city at the weekend was incredible, and proves once again that Perth is the place to be this winter."

Missed out on the Christmas lights switch on? Don’t panic Small City is the place to be to find out about Perth’s Christmas events and what’s going on in the city. From Christmas markets, wreath making workshops, pantomimes, Christmas tree festivals to a Santa Run!
