One of the great things about working in the SCBP office if you often get to hear about all the fun stuff happening locally, and I couldn't help but overhear about lots of exciting Easter activities coming up. Here's a quick run down of all the brilliant, crazy and inspired things on offer for families over Easter weekend and the school holidays- get out there and enjoy!!

Egg Hunts

St John’s Centre. 31st March. Details>

The Easter bunny is hopping into the St John’s Centre between 11am and 3pm with some very special treats indeed! Join the annual Easter Egg Hunt by spotting Easter Egg stickers hiding around the mall and you’ll be rewarded with your own tasty cream egg! Everyone who takes part and finds all six eggs will be entered into a free prize draw to win a Giant Bunny!

Dinosaur Egg Hunt. 2nd April

A special Easter event at Perth Museum & Art Gallery. Learn about Dinosaurs with dinosaur expert Jon Hoad’s dinosaur models then follow the dino clues around the museum to solve the puzzle and earn a dino egg!

Croft Style Easter Hunt. 1st April

Who knew the Easter Bunny was a shredder too! Head along to Comrie Croft (with your bike) 11.30am-2.30pm on Easter Sunday for an Easter hunt with a difference. Instead of eggs you'll be hunting for bike parts which can be exchanged for a tasty treat! The Easter Bunny promises to leave a map to help and has told us the hunt is for everyone from toddler to OAP (but you must be on a bike to take part!).

Active Kids Easter Weekend. 31st Mar & 1st April

The brilliant Active Kids Adventure Park near Stanley are hosting their annual event all weekend, which features a mega Easter egg hunt, new animal shed, a special visit from Stanley the dog and a few surprises on Tractor Ted’ Farm!

Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunts

Get ready for a long weekend of fun and discovery as you spot the first signs of spring and experience nature bursting into life at the special places the National Trust for Scotland looks after in Perthshire. Become a nature detective to follow bunny’s clues and finish your adventure with a delicious chocolatey treat.

The Hermitage: 31st March Hunt 11am-3pm. Hunt cost £3.00

Branklyn Garden: Daily 30th March - 2nd April. 10am-4pm. Hunt Cost £1.00 + standard garden admission fee.

Things To See & Do

Live Active Easter Fun. 2nd-13th April. Details>

There’s a choice of Full Day, Adventure and Sports Camps, plus ‘Just for Fun’ and Drop In sessions for children of all ages, available in Perth, Kinross, Crieff, Highland Perthshire and Blairgowrie. Ice skating, swimming, dodgeball, kayaking, cricket, gymnastics, football, you name it…it’s all there! Easter Activity Camps at Perth College UHI. 3rd-13th April. Details>

The Academy of Sport and Wellbeing, based on the Perth College UHI campus, is running a variety of activity sessions at their Kids' Easter camps. Perfect for children aged 7-13 years, the camps will include a mixture of fun games, multi-sport activities and indoor climbing to name a few. There’s two weeks to choose from, and the days run 8.30am-5.30pm.

CHOO CHOO! What would you say if we told you there's a fully functioning miniature steam railway just outside Perth? No...we haven't been on the gin again! Find out all about the brilliant Wester Pickston Miniature Railway and head along to their next open day on Sunday 1st April 2018. Make sure you tell all those Thomas the Tank Engine fans you know! #TinyTrainsAreTheNewGin

Kilgraston Mini Camps - throughout school holidays

Kilgraston mini camps are on throughout the school holidays for boys and girls aged 5 – 18. The fun programme of activities is led by experienced teachers and coaches. The action takes place within the grounds of Kilgraston where kids can spend their days playing tennis open the courts, riding horses, doing a little bit of all sports or getting stuck in with arts, science or hockey. Children of all levels and abilities are catered for, and the team will make sure they make friends and lots of great memories! A Celtic Spring. 1st April

The Scottish Crannog Centre at Kenmore will be hosting a children's treasure hunt for Fool's Gold and other fun from 10.30am-4.30pm. Wire-jewellery-making, ancient tool-repairs, fire-making and wood-working lathes, textile repairs and spinning, Iron Age style food and drink, Sowing the spring grain, Gaelic singing & readying the Crannog Roundhouse for Spring will keep the kids (and adults!) busy.

Junior Golf Camp. 10th & 11th April

Noahs Ark's in Perth will be hosting a two day golf camp for 6-14 year olds from 10am-1pm each day, run by their new Qualified Professional Kevin McNiven. The camps will consist of games and activities designed to help kids develop fundamental movement skills, learn skills specific to golf, have fun and make friends. Details here>

Go Dino Mad!

Playing With Dinosaurs. From 24th March. Details>

Perth Museum & Art Gallery’s brilliant new interactive exhibition is open daily 10am-5pm. It’s a family fun-filled, interactive gallery which takes you on a journey to discover and play with Dinosaurs. With fun games and activities you will become an explorer uncovering fossils, bones and clues as to why we are all so fascinated with the world of dinosaurs.

So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs. 29th March. Details>

 is the hit stage show starring dinosaur aficionado Dr Ben Garrod. Get ready to go on an exciting pre-historic adventure as Ben talks you through the deadliest predators that ever roamed the planet. Yes dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Allosaurus and Spinosaurus would have walked or swam right where you are now!

Easter Rocky Road. Recipe>

This recipe is the perfect way to use up any left-over chocolate from the Easter bunny (if you have any that is!) With no baking required, you can get the kids involved with the mixing and pouring - be prepared for sticky fingers all round, and a fight to lick the bowl!
