Get ready for Perth’s biggest ever Christmas party!

Perth’s biggest ever Christmas party is set to go off with a bang on Saturday 17 November with live music from pop superstar Pixie Lott and singer songwriter James Arthur on a main stage compered by Britain’s Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern.

Taking you from afternoon into evening, Perth’s Christmas Light’s Switch-On has something for everyone – stages, entertainment-packed streets and an array of tasty treats and street food await you, as Perth prepares to countdown to Christmas 2018!

This is a FREE event.

Christmas Parade

Led by Santa the Christmas Parade starts from Thimblerow at 5.30pm, before making its way to South Street/Speygate, where the parade will finish. If you are planning to view the light switch on after viewing the parade please note that the only access to Tay Street is opposite Perth Museum and Art Gallery at the end of George Street/Bridge Lane.

The Light Switch-On and Fireworks

At 6.15pm the lights will be switched on by the Provost of Perth and Kinross, Dennis Melloy, who will be joined on stage by a host of stars and special guests. Provost Melloy will press the big red button to trigger the festive lights, followed by an impressive fireworks display over the River Tay.

Santa’s Grotto and Ice Caves

12 noon to 9.00 pm – Saturday 17 Nov

Horsecross Plaza

Visit Santa in his special grotto to let him know your biggest Christmas wish in person. Then go see the elves to collect your special Perth Christmas present, before exploring the special ice caves.

Santa’s Animal Friends

Mill Street

Visit the Cairngorm reindeer, and Santa’s other four-legged friends who help him out around the North Pole when Rudolph is having a well-deserved rest.

Ice Carving

Once again the masters of ice carving Glacial Art will amaze you as they create works of art from the great blocks of ice right before your eyes.

Here are a few of the street entertainers you can expect to see at our Christmas Light Switch-On:

– Bad Santas: Bad Santa’s is a Christmas entertainment walkabout with a pumping soundtrack, spectacularly dreadful breakdancing, their own mobile dance floor and joyful Christmas comedy.

– Liver Cottage at Christmas: Introducing festive foodie fun for all, Hugh Fern and Lee Whittingstall are on the move in their mobile, musical Christmas kitchen.

– Fagin and Dodge: Take to the streets of Perth in this Dickensian Christmas stilts walkabout. Theatrical and engaging, this duo charm their way into audiences hearts. It’s straight out of Oliver Twist.

– The Raiju: Meet the Raiju at the Perth at Lights Switch On as they unleash their very own brand of cute chaos on the unsuspecting public.
