The Year in Pictures

A lot has happened in Perthshire over the last 12 months: Perth Concert hall celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the country-tastic  Southern Fried Festival and also opened it's doors to the Women of the World Festival when it came to Scotland for the first time in October.  Also, the Perth Festival of Arts returned in March for a series of eclectic concerts across different venues in the town.  Also, in July, fabulous new venue, the gig room hosted the amazing Hayseed Dixie.

2017 was also a fantastic year for sport with so many of our athletes excelling and making their mark on the world stage.   Our region will also be represented at both the Winter Olympics and Commonwealth Games in 2018 and Perthshire athletes like Stephen Milne have already been training hard hoping to add to their collections of medals.  Also, the sun was shining and the crowd came in their thousands for Ladies at Perth Races where Gok Wan presented prizes including ones for Best Hat, Grand Lady and Best Dressed Male. MORE >

Last year also the launch of the charity Andy's Mans Club's only Scottish centre here in Perth.  Depression and anxiety don’t discriminate particularly at this time of year so Andy's Man Club's aim is to be there for anyone who's struggling and going through a hard time. It's run with the support of Saints in the Community and we caught up with the guys running it to find out more about this amazing support system for men. MORE >

There's also been a lot going on at Small City Big Personality itself as we have added 3 new members of staff added to our ranks.  In March Rhona, Nicky and Hollie were joined by Gary Henderson our new sports journalist.  They were followed shortly after by Colin McSloy our live music reviewer and Hannah Duthie our customer service and craft expert.  Plus we also have the help of Perthshire's talented Photographers like Ben Ellis who provided some amazing images for a gallery of Neon tinged Small City scenes in November.

We've picked a couple of our favourite pics from throughout the year including the time our very own Maverick Gary hit the high life when he took controls of a plane when he went for some in-flight training at Scone Airport.  Not to be outdone Colin headed to Southton Smallholding Project at Blackruthven where he posed for selfies with an Alpaca. Finally, Rhona took Freya for a ride on a fully functioning miniature steam train on the Wester Pickston Railway just outside Perth.  I think you'll all agree it's been one heck of a year!
