Perth Music Expo 2017

On the 7th September, The Perth Music Expo returned for its fourth year to showcase the best upcoming bands the city and rest of Scotland has to offer. The free entry event spanned three city-centre venues with insightful industry talks in the Imax Playhouse and live music at two of Perths most iconic venues The Twa Tams and The Green Room.

The event was set up with aim of giving local bands a platform to truly thrive in their early days.  This year Perth Natives: Real Life EntertainmentEmilie and Flat Six offered a variety of everything from hazy alt rock to psychedelia, and showed the strength of the town’s burgeoning live scene.

The line-up also featured two stand-outs of Scotland's alt-pop scene, Edinburgh’s Rebel Westerns and Dundee’s St Martiins.   These two bands both impressed with vibrant new releases and thrilling live sets. Great live act Stillhound and Pinact were both on hand to diversify the evening.  The former to provide everyone with their electronic fix and the later along with WompsStart Static, and SKJOR served up some high-octane messy, spirited punk.  You can get a flavour of this great line-up in this weeks gallery with pictures from Andy Mills and our own resident shutterbug Cain Martin.

We caught up with organisers Andrew Dyce and Craig MacLeod to get the low down on this years event:

The reaction has been really good so far and the night went really well. Real Life Entertainment and Skjor were two of our real highlights. The Twa Tams was rammed, which was great to see. We've got lots of people to thank from sponsors and artists to our event team and speakers. Too many to mention but we are confident that we've done that and will be announcing details on Perth Music Expo 2018 later this year.
