Fair City Enduro 2017

Last Saturday the Muckmedden Fair City Enduro was back in Perth with another day of mud and adrenaline-fueled fun and extreme mountain biking.  Once again it boasted a heady mix of challenging trails, breath-taking views and even more breath-taking fancy dress.  What's more, it is still the only bike race where you’re guaranteed to see Dracula on the starting line and Willie Wonka among the riders.

The race itself took place on rugged trails with breath-taking backdrops and was completed by mountain bikers from the competent novice right up to advanced riders. With high-intensity off-road climbs of up to 20mins at a time participants certainly needed a reasonable standard of fitness to keep up, and most trails were Red graded although Orange and Black sections also featured.

The terrain was as always tricky; high-speed single tracks with fast descents, rock gardens, steep chutes, roots and medium-sized drops all put the riders through their paces.  Although standard bike park jumps and roll-able berms also made an appearance.

The 2017 Enduro was once again organised by Muckmedden who have a reputation for delivering fun, family-friendly mountain bike events. Aaron Gray (AKA Aaron “Muckmedden” or occasionally “Lord Muck”) worked in the flooring trade until 2015 before finding himself in his dream full-time job as Events Organiser with Muckmedden.

The race was recently listed in Red Bull’s ‘Top 11 Must Do Mountain Bike Events in 2017’ and it's easy to see why.  Everyone in attendance certainly had a blast, returning tired and happy to the city, some grasping amazing prizes that they'd won in the Random Raffle.  Riders from all over the country grabbed a quick shower in their hotel room before heading out to Perth to enjoy a great meal or perhaps a well-earned drink at one of great restaurants or pubs.
