Those who have been to Roca Blu will know Cameron very well. He is the man behind the bar creating the incredible cocktails, serving your drinks and helping you and your friends to get drunk!

Recently, the Small City team were lucky enough to be invited to try the new cocktail list at Roca Blu and were treated to a masterclass by Cameron, who mixed up twelve fantastic drinks for us! (You can vote for your favourite here >>>)

Once he had completed his mixing duties, we caught up with him to talk about his job and how he loves to spend his time off!

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

I start at 4 o'clock in the afternoon by opening the bar and setting up for the night ahead. Then it's my job to meet and greet the customers as they come in, make various cocktails, host cocktail masterclasses and entertain the customers in any way I can.

What signals the start of your weekend / days off?

Kicking back with a glass of El Dorado 12 year old and cola after my shift.

What might people be surprised to know about you?

I have an R&B single releasing on apple music, spotify and other platforms of music streaming very soon - keep an eye out for it!

I would really love to experience Grenada at carnival time - that would be amazing!

Worst job you’ve ever had?

Believe it or not, I consider myself lucky enough to have been happy in every job I've had so far!

Who or what inspires you?

My parents - who have raised me and my siblings to be the open minded, personable and happy people we are today.

Tell us about the weekend you’d love to live again?

My old football team Pitfour FC were invited to play a charity football match down in Anglesey and I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the community. It was a fantastic weekend for all involved!

What’s the best part about your job?

Being requested to make cocktails off the top of my head and seeing the facial expressions and hearing the feedback (which is nearly always positive!) of the customers I serve. I also love working with my teammates who make every shift fun and memorable.

What’s in the perfect day off breakfast?

Guyanese bakes, fish cakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, fried plantain, baked beans, black pudding, sausages and a nice cold glass of bucks fizz to top it off!

Complete this sentence; The best things in life are….

Experienced with family and close friends!
