Perthshire's Gardens

There's always been something quite magical about garden's.  I was a huge fan of the Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett when I was younger and the idea of a 'secret' garden was just so intriguing and exciting for my young and curious imagination.  I would often run about in my garden looking for fairies dancing under toadstools and desperately hoping that I would fall down a rabbit hole and join Alice in the craziness of wonderland. This aura of mystery that enchants gardens and the great outdoors doesn't leave as you grow older - you're never too old to embrace the magic of mother nature.

Perthshire boasts some of Scotland's most rare and wonderful horticultural jewels. From the stunningly tended grounds of Drummond Castle to the ancient trees of Scone Palace's arboretum there are so many beautiful gardens to enjoy.

Visitors and locals alike marvel at the exquisite topiary, native blooms and towering conifers that adorn the gardens from Perth City Centre up to the highlands of our beautiful county.

If you're visiting the area this summer or looking for something to do with the family then take some time to enjoy a wander through some of Perthshire's beautiful gardens. From famous plant hunters, gardens steeped in history and the rare Himalayan blue poppy you will be amazed at what's right here on our doorstep. The 'punchy' tree is also a great hit (see what we did there) It can be found within Scone Palace's pinetum. You can literally punch the bark and it won't hurt because it is a soft bark Giant Redwood Sequoia!

With bees buzzing, the birds singing and the sound of the wind rustling the plants there is something very calming about wandering through a beautiful garden in the summer. With such a great choice here in Perthshire then you have no excuse no to get out and explore this summer.
