Virtual fitness goes from strength to strength at Live Active Leisure

Remember the days when we moved mountains to shoehorn an exercise class into our day only to find out – horror of horrors - it had been cancelled last minute? Well, good news! Thanks to the rise of Les Mills Virtual classes, excuses are history as you need never miss another class again.

Les Mills Virtual workouts are the next big thing from the global fitness phenomenon and as the largest Les Mills partner in the area, Live Active Leisure is leading the way.

Fitness manager Graeme Lackie commented, "There's is actual very little difference between a Virtual class and a traditional Les Mills class. Fitness fans are led by an on-screen instructor rather than a person but outwith that everything remains the same.

World-leading fitness programmes with pumping sound and motivation every step of the way. The biggest benefit for our customers is that there is more options in how they exercise – and crucially - when they choose to do it! Win win!."

Now offering 60 Les Mills Virtual classes a week alongside their traditional instructor led classes, customers can enjoy trusted favourites such as BodyPump, BodyCombat and Virtual RPM, all with the technology-edged spin.

Providing more fitness opportunities for customers and at a range of different times which they couldn’t usually offer due to instructor availability, LAL showcased their first Virtual class at Bell’s Sport Centre in 2017 as part of the Les Mills RPM offering and the classes have continued to go from, ahem, strength to strength. See what we did there?

Strathearn Community Campus and Breadalbane Community Campus have now both gone virtual over summer and are offering Bodypump, BodyCombat, BodyBalance, CX WORX, Sh'Bam, Grit and Barre.

Graeme Lackie says the company will continue to make Virtual classes – and other Les Mills offerings - available to all across the Perth and Kinross area.

We have more fitness members than ever before. We now offer 250 classes a week.

“Modern lives are busy and we want to ensure we continue to bring value and quality to our members and users. The intention is to roll the virtual model out across all localities, offering additional classes at more flexible times. It offers more value to memberships, increases choices for customers and we’ve never had to cancel a virtual class,” he explained.

“We have more fitness members than ever before. We now offer 250 classes a week. Sustaining that programme is a big task but is essential to providing all of our customers with a great experience. Les Mills is a big part of this and we look forward to growing this hugely successful partnership in the years to come.”

Les Mills in Perth & Kinross

In 2005 when Graeme and the team first introduced Les Mills (yes, he really has been at Live Active that long!), Live Active Rodney was the one and only venue customers could take part in the global fitness sensation BodyPump.

Within a month of the class coming on stream, class attendance was exploding and managers were operating waiting lists of up to 20 people per class.
