Now offering 60 Virtual classes a week alongside its 59 instructor led classes, Live Active Leisure (LAL) is leading the way by providing Perth and Kinross fitness fans with more options in how they exercise – and crucially - when they choose to do it! Win win!

Remember the days when we moved mountains to shoehorn an exercise class into our day only to find out – horror of horrors - it had been cancelled last minute?

Well, good news! Thanks to the rise of Virtual classes, excuses are history as you need never miss another class again.

As the largest Les Mills partner in the area, Live Active Leisure customers are spoilt for choice with the range of classes on offer from the global fitness phenomenon such as trusted favourites BodyPump, BodyCombat and Virtual RPM, the majority of which are delivered by 28 Les Mills qualified instructors.

The appetite for Virtual shows no sign of abating with classes being rolled out to Strathearn earlier this year and with Breadalbane Community Campus going virtual this summer. Providing more fitness opportunities for customers and at a range of different times which they couldn’t usually offer due to instructor availability, LAL showcased their first Virtual class at Bell’s Sport Centre in 2017 as part of the Les Mills RPM offering and the classes have continued to go from, ahem, strength to strength. See what we did there?

Fitness manager Graeme Lackie says the company will continue to make Virtual classes – and other Les Mills offerings - available to all across the Perth and Kinross area.

“Modern lives are busy and we want to ensure we continue to bring value and quality to our members and users. The intention is to roll the virtual model out across all localities, offering additional classes at more flexible times. It offers more value to memberships, increases choices for customers and we’ve never had to cancel a virtual class,” he explained.

We have more fitness members than ever before. We now offer 250 classes a week.

“We have more fitness members than ever before. We now offer 250 classes a week. Sustaining that programme is a big task but is essential to providing all of our customers with a great experience. Les Mills is a big part of this and we look forward to growing this hugely successful partnership in the years to come.”

In 2005 when Graeme and the team first introduced Les Mills, Live Active Rodney was the one and only venue customers could take part in the global fitness sensation BodyPump.

Within a month of the class coming on stream, class attendance was exploding and managers were operating waiting lists of up to 20 people per class.

Graeme adds: “Since then it’s continued to build in popularity and choice both within so in 2015 we rolled out the partnership into all localities.

“Fitness class usage has grown consistently since then and in the 2018/19 period, Les Mills class usage stood at 49,120 – a staggering 30% of the total fitness class usage figure. And of course, the phenomenon that is BodyPump accounted for 20,000 of those!”
