A truly Fangtastic weekend in Perth!

The aphorist Mason Cooley once said “Clothes make a statement. Costumes tells a story.” Never was this truer than last weekend as Perth came alive with ghosts, ghouls, goblins, zombies and even cute little witches to celebrate Halloween 2016 in style!

If you’re reading this then you’ve clearly survived your monkey nut induced coma to enjoy our gallery bursting with of images from the amazing array of spooky events which took place. Whether you’re a traditionalist who likes nothing better than a bit of apple dookin’ or a complete maverick who likes to get busy carving out their watermelon (don’t know it till you’ve tried it-trust us), Halloween is full of fun and laughter for everyone. We love a homemade costume- it’s practically a right of package to wear a tin foil covered cardboard box and go as the Tin Man at least once in your life!

The weekend of fun kicked off with the Castle Horror 666 Maze and live music from top band ‘The Kill’ on the main stage. The City Centre was awash with activities from a zip wire down the High Street to fancy dress costume competitions. Locals came out in their droves to enjoy the entertainment which included performers from Adventure Circus as well as talented local dance troops who strutted their stuff in choreographed routines set to music with fantastic costumes, hair and make-up (big respect to all those parents who were no doubt up till midnight sewing cobwebs onto a tutu!).

Saturday's family entertainment began with the hugely popular Grand Halloween Parade starting from Thimble Row. Torch bearers led the way for the hundreds of locals who proceeded through the City Centre sporting an incredible array of fancy dress. Following the parade the Main Stage came alive with live music and more dancing from Perthshire dance academies while the littlest revellers were entertained with storytelling, face painting and fun fair rides. Of course no Halloween celebration would be complete without traditional apple dookin’, treacle scone eating and even a witch’s scream contest!

Meanwhile over the bridge Scone Palace hosted a range of Halloween themed events including their first ever ‘Twilight Illuminations’, an atmospheric tour around the garden and graveyard set against sound and light production by the creative team behind The Enchanted Forest. Over 2700 people visited the Palace to enjoy the weekend’s spooky activities and the great news is they’ve got even bigger and better events! The tour sure had our Holly’s spine tinging- you can read her review here>
