Dunkeld House Hotel is just a little bit in love with afternoon tea – so much so that they have been practising this quintessentially British tradition for as long as they can remember. While it is a relaxed repast, there are certain elements that are now regarded as classic. Tea is a supreme element, whether it be Indian, China or British grown. Dunkeld house are delighted to offer a selection of teas, cakes and sandwiches to suit every taste.
Their ancestors took tea seriously – and so do they! They loved scones, cakes and sandwiches, of course, but began this most delicious of afternoon rituals with savour treats, such as Welsh rarebit, muffins with poached eggs or a tart or two were enjoyed to great satisfaction. In acknowledgement of their ancestors they include a savoury cheese scone with cream cheese and smoked salmon.
Savouries – usually finger sandwiches – are generally taken first.
No tea is complete without scones. Every region of the British Isles has its own scone recipe, providing a perfect bridge between savoury and sweet. At Dunkeld House Hotel – because it is a classic afternoon tea you will find them accompanied by clotted cream and preserves.
The crowning glory of the classic afternoon tea are divine cakes and fancies.
Taken all together, Dunkeld House Hotel’s classic afternoon tea is not just an excuse, but a reason to forego lunch.
Need another reason to join them for Afternoon Tea? Recently they have welcomed a new addition to their team, Atilla, who is their new Pastry Chef. Previously having worked at The Ritz and Fortnum and Mason in London, they are delighted to have Atilla as part of their team.
Guests can take afternoon tea in their lovely conservatory or bar area or, should the sun shine, in their lovely patio looking out towards the River Tay.
