Dr Jodie Fulton is one of those people who always seems to be busy. As a dentist at Cherrybank Dental Spa on Perth's Glasgow Road, Jodie spends her days helping clients achieve that much-desired, perfect smile. At the weekends though, she swaps scrubs for stirrups and travels the length of the country with her event horses.
"Every day is completely different for me as we do such a wide variety of dental treatments and facial aesthetics - smile design, implants, general dentistry - so our work is incredibly varied.
"At the moment we're gearing up for our big Invisalign weekend - people can save up to £750 on treatment so as you can imagine it's going to be a busy one!" (As a side note - you can book this offer here! - N)
As a dentist at Cherrybank Dental Spa Jodie spends her days helping clients achieve that much-desired, perfect smile."At weekends you'll find me galloping my horses on the cross country course at Strathearn Eventing in Methven.
When she's not jumping over fences you'll find her enjoying the best of Perthshire; it's Gloagburn for breakfast and lunch, Gleneagles for dinner or a spa day, and a wander round Home Sense for a bargain. - "I'm a TK Maxx kind of girl!"
Hailing from Dollar, Jodie worked in a dental practice in Glasgow with Saudi university students, as well as teaching at the University of Glasgow before joining founding dentist, Dr Elaine Halley, at Cherrybank Dental Spa.
There’s not one stand out ‘weird or funny’ thing but I think I’m always doing silly things - tripping over nothing, missing the doorframe, almost missing the chair when I sit down! I love doing voices and impressions at work which always getting us giggling.
Any time with my family, friends and animals. I have 3 horses, 2 working cocker spaniels, 13 rescue hens, 2 baby Pygmy goats and 2 rescue cats so there is plenty to keep me busy!!
It’s an all-consuming life, you really have to eat, sleep and breathe it, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.Other than the inordinate number of animals I have? I compete my event horses in my spare time - you can follow our journey on social media at The Eventing Dentist - we travel all over the UK competing at weekends.
It’s an all-consuming life, you really have to eat, sleep and breathe it, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Most of my best friends are part of the same world. I’m also completely addicted to tea - I drink ludicrous amounts of it in a day!
I have travelled quite a bit but there are so many places I would still love to see. I would really love to climb Kilimanjaro one day!
I’ve had lots of brilliant jobs… I won’t embarrass any local business by spilling the beans, but some were exceptionally slow-paced - not me at all! My favourite job as a student was working at the Equestrian Centre at Gleneagles during my holidays. I spent the day surrounded by horses in the most amazing of facilities, and had the opportunity to get lessons with some excellent instructors.
My parents. They have spent their lives sacrificing and grafting for me and my two older brothers. We have been given every opportunity because of them, and I always strive to make them proud. They have instilled in us the importance of a strong work ethic and we have a very close and extended family who are my world. I have a baby niece and nephew now too which is so special.
My wedding day. Is there anything more special than being surrounded by everyone you love in one room? It flew by, but was so special. The build up was amazing too, such happy memories.
We get to see the transformation when patient’s come in with no hope, and they leave feeling on top of the world! The ability to give a patient back their confidence to smile again! We get to see the transformation when patient’s come in with no hope, and they leave feeling on top of the world! They smile with their eyes again and it’s so special to be a part of that. As Steve Jobs said: ‘the only way to do great work is to love what you do”.
FREE! I’m very easily pleased - a roaring fire, a dog walk in the hills, a great laugh with friends or family, good food, sunshine, galloping in the country on my horses, freshly cut grass. I could go on but the simplest things bring me the most joy.
