Their hugely-entertaining and boisterous on-stage antics are solidly underpinned by superb musicianship, affording them a strong league of devoted followers all over the USA, and now on the world music circuit, following appearances at big swing dance revivals.
On their 2013 recording debut, captured on their home patch in Los Angeles, they dusted down crusty old classics from the ‘20s and ‘30s, re-visiting material from the likes of The Blue Ridge Playboys, Scott Joplin, The Memphis Jugband and Emile Grimshaw’s Rag Pickers.
The California Feetwarmers are the band that modern blues stylist Keb’ Mo’ grabbed to provide an air of authenticity when he recorded his 2014 album, Blues Americana, claiming to The Wall Street Journal that he asked the band to play as he wanted it to be “a joyous thing – a party.” The Feetwarmers earned a Grammy nomination for their contribution towards Keb’ Mo’s album.
