Job Description- Head Baker/ Baker

Gloagburn Farmshop have an exciting new opportunity available for an experienced Head Baker and 2 Bakers to join our friendly kitchen team.

The Bakers selected for this role will be working to provide our coffee shop with delicious home baked cakes, pudding and breads and to also supply the farm shop and wholesale requirements with bread and home baked goods.

We offer a wide range of products with particular focus on quality and bespoke products using only the highest quality local ingredients.

You will be working 5 out of 7 days from 7.30am – 4.30pm including weekends. These are great working hours as you will have evenings free to spend time with your family or doing what you love to do!

The applicant will be working as part of a close knit team therefore it is imperative that they have great communication and people skills and are able to give or take direction.

You must be very positive, creative and a dedicated team player with the ability to display precise attention to detail.

It is essential that the applicant has experience within a retail bakery role and holds a relevant food safety qualification. A hands on approach to work will be required as you will be working in a fast paced environment delivering high volumes of baked goods to a very high standard.

We are looking for someone who is extremely motivated and passionate about baking and who uses this drive to deliver great results.

This role would suit a patisserie or pastry chef looking for better hours.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Baking

  • Experience of producing baked goods by hand as well as by machinery.
  • Sound knowledge of different breads, doughs, mixtures and recipes
  • Able to bake different products in different equipment.
  • Developing and testing new baking recipes.
  • Experience of using kitchen equipment such as a rolling pins, industrial mixing machines and industrial ovens.
  • Relevant food safety qualification/ any other beneficiary qualifications
  • Accurate at following recipes and directions
