It's A Bugs Life

02 June 2019

"Once a lonely caterpillar sat and cried,
To a sympathetic beetle by his side.
'I've got nobody to hug,
I'm such an ugly bug.'

Then a spider and a dragonfly replied,
'If you're serious and want to win a bride,
Come along with us,
To the glorious
Annual ugly bug ball.'

Come on let's crawl
To the ugly bug ball
To the ball, to the ball
And a happy time we'll have there
One and all
At the ugly bug ball"

Last month we asked the amazing Facebook group Pictures of Perth and Beyond to send in their sizzling summer snaps for a summertime gallery.  When we looked through them, we noticed that there was a couple of awesome pics of cute little creepy crawlies soaking up the sun, trying to even out their tan lines (bee's, in particular, seem to have a hard time with this!).

This got us thinking.  How great would it be to devote a whole gallery to insects, bugs and general creepy crawlies?  Pretty great as it turns out!  The guys and gals from Pictures of Perth and beyond sent us snaps of everything from spiders to dragonflies, from caterpillars to moths and butterflies.  Plus, the glorious Perthshire sunshine (it seems that is a phrase I'm going to have to get used to typing) continues to provide the perfect lighting.  Enjoy the pics and remember to look where you put your feet, lest you squash one of these magnificent beasts!

Today's amazing insecty (is that a word?) pics were provided by the Facebook group Pictures of Perth and Beyond and it's members who include: Sue McNeil, Roy Mitchell, Connor McLaren (have a look at his Facebook page here), Fraser Hetherington, Gail Dobbie, Jen Bruce, Tracey Hutton and Irene Lamond.  Thanks guys!
