Woo My Shoes With Rachel Simpson!

By 4th February 2015

If you were to go right back to the beginning of our Small City #PerthLoveFest you’d find a story from me listing my favourite Perth Indies. On that list is Arabesque and their place was secured for one simple reason; anyone who can set up a dancewear and wedding shoe outlet in a shop the size of a large cupboard and run it with huge success for over 27 years deserves full on high fives and tumultuous applause all day long.

Sharon Colburn opened her dancewear shop in 1988 and very quickly added the wedding shoes and bespoke dying service to her wares. The quirky combination would probably be scoffed at in the Den, too diverse a blend for such a small retail space. However, whipsmart Sharon comes from a very long, very illustrious line of Perth Indie retailers and her winning formula has seen her combat two recessions and kit out the feet of generations of Perth girls all the way from ballet class to wedding aisle.

Arabesque Bridal ShoesIn recent years her business has grown to UK wide online sales and Woo My Shoes has become the go-to brand for brides seeking out a vintage look with quality credentials.  Sharon’s longstanding reputation in the bridal business has allowed her the luxury of choosing from the best of British cutting-edge designers and leading manufacturers; she is also the woman entrusted with limited edition archives from Diane Hassall.

So, when your business looks as enviable as this what’s a girl to do for kicks? Simple really. She sets up exclusive designer days with one of Britain’s leading Bridal Shoe designers.  Rachel Simpson’s designs have been rocking the bridal show world since 2008 and her stunning vintage look shoes have been influenced by the 1920s and 1930s and come in both classic and pastel palettes.

Sharon and Rachel organised their first designer day in Perth last year and such was the success that they have quickly turned around the second which will take place this Saturday 7th February.

Arabesque Invite

“We basically turn the shop into a Rachel Simpson grotto!  Shoes, bags and accessories are all out on display and for one day only we offer her full range in store for our customers to browse and try on. Everyone is welcome to drop in and soak up the atmosphere over the course of the day but we’re recommending all brides-to-be to book an appointment NOW if they’d like to enjoy a chat and a fitting with Rachel herself. Last year she signed the bottom of our brides' shoes so this really is a great chance to have something truly unique for your Big Day.”

The shoes come in a beautiful choice of styles and colours and I have to tell you, I’m not getting married but those pale green peep toes are on my list!  The attention to detail across style, fit and comfort is second to none. Brides, Maids, Women everywhere - you will love these shoes!
