In the short 18 months he has been open, Rae Peacock and his husband Craig, have taken Facebook by storm and coiffed the heads of many a Perth gal. Although his highlight will surely be the coveted spot of Big Personality on our online mag! :-)
From day one it's been a labour of love welcoming guests to what they call their 'front lounge'. A place where you instantly feel at home with the offer of a drink, home-baked treats and lots of banter.
Rae isone of those lucky people who unashamedly loves his job. With the creative juices flowing he will create fabulous shapes and colours over cocktails, delicious home baked brownies (Craig's Speciality) and lots of chat and laughs. He will tell you that he can't think of a better way to spend his days, so much so, that on a recent 5-star exotic holiday, he and Craig both wanted back to work after a week because they missed it so much!
Busy from the off, the team has grown organically with talented stylists approaching them looking for the opportunity to join the team which the pair have found overwhelmingly flattering.
Their original plans of staying put in their wee New Row salon were beginning to look unrealistic and so, when the old Maple and Thistle shop came up for lease they hummed and hawed as to whether they should take it or not.
They didn't want to lose the intimate feel of their small but compact salon but the truth was, in after only a year and half they needed a unit almost three times the size!
The new space is much-like the original salon, with an industrial-chic twist. Gorgeous pieces of contemporary and original artwork adorn the walls giving a personal touch and a boutique feel, and avoiding the 'hair factory' vibe that can sometimes go hand-in-hand with larger salons.
In addition to their unique approach, they've added Comfort Zone skincare and are proud to be the only stockists in the area. Comfort Zone products are vegan and entirely natural yet have been created through extensive scientific research. This enables the company to produce the latest in anti-ageing ingredients all the while staying true to their roots. Our note from Craig is that the aromatherapy range smells edible!
They will also be offering Comfort Zone facials along with Calgel nails in the salon, adding yet more strings to their bow!
The back section of the salon is the real treat for us girls though; it can be booked out for sole use for a bridal party, birthday party or any other special event.
Rae, Craig and the team can't wait to have their very loyal guests and hopefully lots of new folk in to see the new space.
