Polly Murray At Tiso

Grab your sense of adventure and head to Tiso Perth to meet Polly Murray, Perthshire Adventurer and the first Scottish Woman to climb Everest.

Announced as the new ambassador for The Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp, Polly Murray is set to bring her vast experience to Tiso, Perth Outdoor Experience store, Inveralmond on Saturday 7th March.

The charity hike returns to bonny Perthshire for the fifth time this summer and the countdown is now on for adventure seekers to take on the fearsome Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp!

Polly will be in Tiso to offer her tried and trusted advice on preparing for hikes and outdoor adventures and for anyone tackling this great outdoor event this year.

“I wore a light training shoe with a high ankle so my feet were ok. I changed my socks four times - which was a luxury given I am on expeditions which involve wearing the same two pairs for three months. My one piece of advice is to wear the right kit. It makes the world of difference in terms of staying comfortable, dry and warm.”

There will be special sign up offers for the Cateran Yomp on the day so di deep, find your Scottish adventurers spirit and get along and find out more in the store on the 7th and 8th March.  #noexcuses! #Yomp2015

MORE ABOUT THE YOMP!

The Yomp follows the historic Cateran Trail over the weekend of 13-14 June 2015, challenging ‘Yompers’ to take on an epic 54 miles over 24 hours to achieve gold status.  There is also a 36.5 (silver) and 22 (bronze) mile trail.

Starting at sunrise, teams taking part in the Bronze challenge will head to the first finish line at the Spittal of Glenshee while Silver yompers will continue on to Kirkton of Glenisla to the 36.5 mile checkpoint. The Gold route will take participants back to Blairgowrie via Bamff near Alyth - with checkpoints, support teams and masseurs to help ease aches and pains en route.

The Cateran Yomp exists to raise vital funds for ABF The Soldier’s Charity, supporting soldiers and their families in times of greatest need and has raised over £1 million for the charity since 2000.

Ambassador Polly Murray, the first Scottish woman to climb Everest in May 2000 at the age of just 26 has been announced as this year's ambassador.
