Dress to Impress - it's Ladies Day!

This Thursday it's the most glamorous event on the racing calendar at Perth Racecourse - it's Ladies Day!

Totepool Ladies Day has been pencilled into everyone’s diary since the 2017 fixture list was announced and thousands will flock to Perth Racecourse in their finest attire in an attempt to be crowned the Grand Lady! We can’t wait!

St. John’s Shopping Centre is sponsoring the prize this year, and there’s £2000 on offer to the lucky lady who has dressed the best. That’s not all though – the Grand Lady competition will be judged by none other than celebrity stylist Gok Wan. So ladies, make sure you give it your best effort and make it a difficult decision for Gok!

It’s not just the Grand Lady who can win on Ladies Day though and there are prizes on offer for Best Hat and Best Dressed Male, so there really is plenty to play for. We can’t wait to see the fashion on display on Thursday! It’s sure to be one of the most competitive competitions yet.

Those lucky enough to secure VIP tickets – now completely sold out – will be treated to Gok Wan’s Fashion Brunch Club, where the stylist will share his industry secrets and showcase the latest trends ahead of summer in a fantastic fashion show.

For those in the grandstand area, there will still be plenty going on in terms of entertainment throughout the day. Tay FM’s Stuart Webster will be hosting the main stage and there will be live music on offer with The Soul Kings kick-starting proceedings with a performance in the morning. A Take That tribute band will close the show, so if you're a fan of Gary, Mark, Howard, Robbie and Jason then you won’t want to miss it!

Hazel Peplinski, chief executive of Perth Racecourse, is really excited ahead of what is expected to be one of the busiest days on the calendar.

“Year on year, Ladies Day continues to attract an enthusiastic crowd who really do dress to impress. Our VIP tickets have completely sold out, and we are looking forward to welcoming our stylish guests to the track.

Sponsored by St. John’s Shopping Centre, our Best Dressed Lady is the biggest best dressed cash prize in Scotland, and we are thrilled that Gok Wan will be doing the honours and crowning this year’s winner. I have a feeling that the competition might be even stiffer than usual!”

If one day at the races isn’t enough to whet your appetite, Wednesday night sees the first evening fixture of the year and it’s the perfect preparation before Ladies Day! Entry to the On-Course Bookmakers Evening is just £5 – and it’s ideal for novice racegoers, students and experienced punters alike. There will be delicious food and drink from local producers and a fine selection of ales and craft beers available from local breweries. It will set you up nicely before the big event the following day!

LADIES DAY - busy crowds

Perth’s resident race day presenter Jim Delahunt will be on-hand to guide you through what is a very competitive card of jump racing on Wednesday evening, with the most valuable race on the card being the Class 4 £10,000 Handicap Hurdle. The atmosphere will be lively and it’s the perfect opportunity for those who have never been to the racecourse before to experience it for the first time.

So it’s set to be a busy few days and we are very excited to see everyone dressed to impress for the chance to scoop the big prize! The Small City team will be there on Thursday, and we hope to see you all there too!
