This week's Workdays and Weekends is Maddy Smith from Nae Limits. We first met Maddy when we had our Small City Team day out on the river. She was great fun and felt very much part of our wee gang on the river. As we paddled down the Tay she pointed out the sights and sounds of the nearby Perthshire countryside. So knowledgeable was Maddy that when we discovered it was only her third week in the country we were gobsmacked into complete awe at the intensity of the training she'd obviously already had! She's originally from New Zealand but is living it up at Nae Limits for the time being and doing a super job of being an activity guide may we add!
Maddy made our day on the river so much fun so we had to catch up with her again and give her a spot in our Workday and Weekends column and share her awesomeness with you all.
1. What does a typical day at work look like for you?
My typical day at work starts at 8.30am and usually involves guiding two trips of either Rafting, Canyoning or White Water Tubing. I have a pretty sweet office :-)
2. What signals the start of your weekend / days off?
A nice long lie in.
3. What makes for a perfect night in?
Ice-cream, chocolate and a good movie.
4. What makes for a memorable day or night out?
Maybe the beach… Sunshine, beers, good friends, camp fires and music.
5. Tell us about the weekend you’d love to live again?
The weekend I would love to live again would be one of the weekends I spent with a bunch of mates Rafting the Grand Canyon – it is an unbelievable place!
6. And now your best ever day at work?
I was working for a multi-day adventure company in New Zealand and in one day we jet boated up a river, helicoptered over a mountain range and then Rafted out on a class four river.
7. Any workday or weekend rituals?
Always start the day with a good coffee.
8. What’s in the perfect day off breakfast?
Bacon and poached eggs with mushrooms and avocado – yum!
9. Any words of wisdom for us?
Don’t be afraid to travel the world.
