No Scary Clowns Required!

Looking at past photos of my childhood birthday parties with my bowl cut and chocolate covered face, I’ve been taking inspiration for Joel’s upcoming first birthday party. Luckily for him the bowl shall stay in the kitchen cupboard and there will be no embarrassing photos to show any future partners – well I’ve kept some naked bath ones so I don’t get to miss out on this embarrassing Mother tradition!

It’s difficult to decide on how to celebrate this milestone whether to have a quiet gathering with family or to hire Scone Palace and give Elton a call.

Some friends with older children have tended to start doing bigger parties once their child is aware of what a party is (however this doesn’t guarantee their understanding means less tantrums on the day!).

In Perthshire we are spoilt for choice with various companies and venues offering services to help take away the stress of you organising the birthday bash of the year.

If you’re looking to accommodate creature curious or unicorn daft little ones or any other theme then check out my list – it’s their party and they’ll probably cry if they want to but at least they can do it in style!

Sleepy Headzzz

When I was ten, a sleepover with friends involved stealing my Mum’s make up bag for drag queen makeovers and my parents trying to find some form of amusement for hyper sugar infused children. With Sleepy Headzz it takes away the hassle for parents and helps to create fun memories.

Sleepy Headzzz - Directory PictureAfter her daughter Miya requested a themed sleepover for her next birthday her Mum Claire, got her creative thinking cap on and came up with the idea of Sleepy Headzzz. Realising that locally there was no similar companies offering sleepover packages and the expense of doing a one off, she wanted to provide other parents the same choice.

Being a busy parent herself she has focused on delivering an efficient service that involves little input from her customers to help everyone enjoy themselves.

Once you’ve selected from the various themes of boho chic, football, Harry Potter, LOL doll and unicorn, and then decided on a date, the team will set up the tents and accessories. They even collect everything the next day so tired parents the next day can put their feet up. For an additional cost of £20 a popcorn machine and kernels can be supplied for helping create the ultimate cinema experience.

With her Textiles degree, Claire has applied her natural artistic flair to creating this fun experience, no matter the occasion as “kids are only young for a short time these days and it gives them something special to remember”.

Adventure Circus

As crazy as all our party animals are they all have different interests and if you’re looking for something different or traditional with no hassle then check out the above recommendations.

Recently I had Joel’s first birthday and we opted for a quiet celebration with family and of course Elmo. I’m certainly taking inspiration for his future birthdays and I’m already working on my plan to convince him about a Princess party. I also managed to get quite a few embarrassing photos which I also used to create a hilarious meme to share on social media so all in all the day was a complete success!

With circus, Harry Potter, military, Princess and sports themed parties - we can easily leave the scary clowns for Hollywood.
