Oh Ya Dancer, JGN!

By 27th September 2014

There is something hugely uplifting about watching people dance! I defy you not to smile, tap your toe and bob your head along to the music. Of course, given the right conditions I think I'm Kylie but the truth is I've always been a bit.... freestyle, with my shape throwing!

Thankfully, Perth is being well represented by local dance school JGN Dance Attic. It has been an incredible year for Jackie Nicoll's local students who stormed the 2014 World Street Dance Championships in August.

The Rjay Crew took 6th place in under 18 beginner crews. Thomas McGregor came 2nd in under 12 beginner solos and Luke Carling & Calum Duncan became world champions with 1st place in under 10 duos.

Last weekend they went on to prove that their recent wins were far from a flashdance in the pan!  JGN had 55 kids competing at the UDO Central Scotland Street Dance Championships which just happened to be held on our home turf at Bell's Sports Centre.

All five crews from JGN qualified for The World Street Dance Championships 2015 and two of the crews qualified for the Europeans in Germany 2015.

A huge well done to all of these amazing Perth Dancers!

Jackie opened JGN Dance Attic seven years ago and has over 300 students dance their way through her doors every week. They're aged from 2 - 50 (ooo - hope for me yet!) and they perform at local charity events, compete at Scottish, European and World Championship Level and are also part of the half time entertainment team at St Johnstone Football Club.

Find out more about JGN Dance Attic on her facebook page.

PS Mums and Dads of JGN winners listed above can send in their pics and I'll pop them up here :-)
