It would seem that lockdown has produced a new appetite for a gin cocktail or two – funny that!

Every Monday morning I take a look at the online magazine’s page views - dull for some but deep geek wonderful for me.  It probably comes as no surprise to you to learn that the number of days we’ve been in lockdown is directly proportionate to the number of cocktail recipes that have made it to the top of our ‘most viewed’ pages list.

And honestly, it starts my week with a little lift knowing I’m doing good for my community!

Please don’t operate machinery or cars under the influence of gin; instead, throw on your dressing gown / yoga pants / best ballgown, step into the garden and soak up the good bits of life. Because it may be tough right now, and it may seem neverending, but this too shall pass – and until then there is gin!

Lemon and Thyme Gin Cocktail

That sharp, citrusy punch is why lemon works well the dry taste of gin, but if you like to mix things up a little then this is the cocktail for you. By making a syrup you balance the sour tang with a sweetness. The sprig of thyme then adds a subtle flavour, but it is wam, with a wonderful herby aroma and every so slightly minty overtones.  Luscious!

The Gingilla

A fruity gin cocktail made with Rock Rose original gin, Chambord and Crabbies raspberry ginger beer.  Created by gin lover, Judith Murie, for Provender Brown's annual Wee G & T Festival.

Gingilla was named after my friend Gill, when experimenting one wet weekend! It is really tasty and perfect for those people less keen on the traditional dry gin cocktails

Mint and Cucumber Gin Fizz

Gill has taken her freshly grown mint and added it to slices of cucumber, freshly squeezed lime juice and of course a generous splash of gin to create this gloriously fresh summer cocktail.

Bramble Gin Cocktail

Everything’s better with a good glug of gin, and this sweet bramble cocktail is no exception. The sharpness of the lime balances perfectly with the sweetness of the sugar syrup and when mixed together, it creates a deliciously sweet and sour tipple.
