Family Fun at Perth Racecourse!

It’s summer and those of us with families are always on the lookout for things to keep the little ones occupied. This year for the first time we'll be heading along to the fantastic Family Race Day at Perth Racecourse, which sounds like it could just be the perfect day out for kids of all ages. I know loads of people's who've been in previous years and I'm looking forward to us all having a blast!

It happens once a year and it’s without a doubt one of the busiest fixtures of the season out at Scone. So if you haven’t got anything planned yet for Sunday 16^th July, then make sure you get tickets from the Racecourse website for this excellent event! The centre course is open – for those who aren’t familiar with the Racecourse, that’s the middle of the track – and you can drive your cars straight in so you don’t have to worry about lugging all of your food and drink in big bags! Simply load up your boot and head straight in.

Pack the perfect summer picnic or stock up on burgers and sausages to grill on the BBQ – you can enjoy the sunshine with your own delicious grub! If you fancy having it done for you there’s also plenty of food and drink available on site, there’s so much to choose from even the fussiest of eaters are sure to be impressed!

So, you’ve arrived, set up ‘base-camp’ as I like to call it with snacks, a cool box and a good book (just kidding – haven’t managed to read one of those in years!), now what is there for you and the kids to get up to on the day? The good news is that apart from watching some first-class horse-racing, there is so much going on that your little ones won’t know where to start! That’s because this year, the brilliant team at Action Glen at Crieff Hydro are bringing their renowned kids activities to the Racecourse!

The green grass of the centre course will be covered in fun inflatables just waiting for the kids to climb and jump around on. The Action Glen team will be on-hand too, so you can rest assured that everything is under control and you can enjoy some Pimms in the Scottish sun. There’s more – youngsters will be provided with special children’s race cards for fun and they will also get some great information and facts on the sport of kings, so they can grow to love our four legged friends and horse-racing just as much as the adults.

With the kids entertained, it means you can sit back in your chair and watch seven great races unfold (or at least take it in turns!). You’ll get a great view of the horses and every twist and turn they make as they head towards the finish line.

So for a day of family fun (hopefully in the summer sun!) make sure you head to Perth Racecourse on 16^th July for the Family Race Day. You’ll all have an absolute ball and you may even make a few quid or too. Make sure you arrive early though, it’s one of the busiest days of the year and all of the good spots in the centre course disappear fast! We’ll see you there!
