Tell us the weirdest / funniest thing that has ever happened to you at work

There’s not one stand out ‘weird or funny’ thing but I think I’m always doing silly things - tripping over nothing, missing the doorframe, almost missing the chair when I sit down! I love doing voices and impressions at work which always getting us giggling.

What signals the start of your days off?

Any time with my family, friends and animals; I have 3 horses, 2 working cocker spaniels, 13 rescue hens, 2 baby Pygmy goats and 2 rescue cats so there is plenty to keep me busy!!

What might people be surprised to know about you?

Other than the inordinate number of animals I have? I compete my event horses in my spare time (you can follow our journey on social media - ‘The Eventing Dentist’) - we travel all over the UK competing at weekends. It’s an all-consuming life, you really have to eat, sleep and breathe it, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Most of my best friends are part of the same world. I’m also completely addicted to tea - I drink ludicrous amounts of it in a day!

What is at the top of your bucket list?

I have travelled quite a bit but there are so many places I would still love to see. I would really love to climb Kilimanjaro one day!

What is the worst job you’ve ever had?

I’ve had lots of brilliant jobs… I won’t embarrass any local business by spilling the beans, but some were exceptionally slow-paced - not me at all! My favourite job as a student was working at the Equestrian Centre at Gleneagles during my holidays. I spent the day surrounded by horses in the most amazing of facilities, and had the opportunity to get lessons with some excellent instructors.

Who or what inspires you?

My parents. They have spent their lives sacrificing and grafting for me and my 2 older brothers. We have been given every opportunity because of them, and I always strive to make them proud. They have instilled in us the importance of a strong work ethic and we have a very close family and extended family who are my world. I have a baby niece and nephew now too which is so special.

Tell us about the day you’d love to live again?

My wedding day. Is there anything more special than being surrounded by everyone you love in one room? It flew by, but was so special. The build up was amazing too, such happy memories.

What’s the best part about your job?

The ability to give a patient back their confidence to smile again! We get to see the transformation when patient’s come in with no hope, and they leave feeling on top of the world! They smile with their eyes again and it’s so special to be a part of that. As Steve Jobs said: ‘the only way to do great work is to love what you do”.

Complete this sentence; the best things in life are…

FREE! I’m very easily pleased - a roaring fire, a dog walk in the hills, a great laugh with friends or family, good food, sunshine, galloping in the country on my horses, freshly cut grass. I could go on but the simplest things bring me the most joy.
