Down On The Farm

Perthshire is as famous for its rich agricultural land as it is for the distilleries, restaurants and castles that bring tourists from all over the world to our wee corner of Scotland.

Here in Perthshire many of us will pass through city, town and country, urban and rural lives entwined with one another as the county spreads seamlessly from fields and farms to roads and offices and all the other tell-tale signs of city dwelling.

As we move, from one to the other, there is something quite magical, quite quietly reassuring about the changing of the seasons and the arrival of new life dotted across the fields.  We know, us urbanites and country folks, that nature is never far and that we are constantly evolving and growing.

Kristy, our amazing admin, was inspired into capturing this new life and as well as showing just how lucky we are to have this wonderful gift on our doorsteps, she also captured the real essence of the young life down on the farm.

From puppies at Borland Farm to Fortingall Horses, cows in Keltneyburn and lambs in Errol, there is a real togetherness in this week's life-giving #SmallCityGallery.

Andrea Mason - AKA @little.scottish.one

I have lived in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow so I guess you’d call me a city girl but since my Mum moved to the outskirts of Aberfeldy, Perthshire has stolen my heart! It offers so much, with plenty of places to explore, where no walk or cycle is ever the same no matter how many times you do it. I am an ‘iPhone only’ type of photographer and I use Instagram as my visual journal. I really love taking and editing photos and I am grateful Instagram gives me a platform to share the things I love with other people.

Ian G Black - AKA @iangblack

I'm an amatuer photographer who lives in Errol and I have become very excited about, and possibly even a little addicted (!) to, instagram over past 12 months. I love it!  I'm really passionate about Perthshire and sharing with the wider world all the great things we have to see and do here on our doorstep. In my day job I work in the media sector helping charities and businesses make the most of what's out there as they look to communicate their own story on a shoestring budget ...'

Guardswell Farm is situated on the south facing hillside, between Abernyte and Kinnaird and she’s craving love and attention, and people to enjoy her and her views.

Guardswell will be a secret getaway, shared with those who want to fully immerse themselves into her romantic and bygone ways. Accommodation to suit the modern world escapee who fancies themselves running a micro-farm. Huts to house hearty children who hunger for wholesome days.

I have always had a love of the outdoors and being close to nature ever since I was a little girl living in the Australian outback.  After upgrading to an IPhone6 last year I started trying to capture this passion along with educating my children of the simple beauty around them.  Now with a ‘real camera’ in hand, and an ever-increasing desire to ‘chase that sunset’, I can’t stop exploring!  Scotland is a beautiful place and a photographer's dream.
