Young and living in Perth? Interested in the arts and gender equality? Passionate about making a change? If so, we want to hear from you!
WOW Perth is inviting young people aged 14-18 who are interested in creativity, festivals and activism to apply to be part of the WOWsers programme.
About the WOWsers programme
The WOWsers programme is an opportunity for ten young people aged 14-18 to create an element of the festival (e.g. a talk, piece of drama etc.) to be presented at WOW Perth, which will take place at Perth Theatre from 28 - 30 September 2018. WOWsers (the young people) will meet on Wednesday evenings from 4.30pm until 6.30pm for 2 weeks in June and then weekly from the 15th Aug until the first week in October to discuss ideas and collectively develop a project that will be showcased during the festival. WOWsers will also help to host the WOW Schools Day on Friday 28 September.
About WOW Perth (28 - 30 September 2018)
WOW - Women of the World - is one of Southbank Centre’s flagship festivals, launched in 2011, and now happening in 20 cities across 5 continents. WOW is a global festival where people of all ages and backgrounds celebrate the achievements of women and girls but also examine the obstacles that prevent them from achieving their full potential and contributing to the world. The festival is bold and broad-based in its approach, both lively and thoughtful, and feeds the demand to discuss anything and everything.
We are looking for young people who are:
- Aged between 14 - 18 years old
- Interested in literature, music, dance, theatre, visual arts, culture, gender issues, social justice, and more
- Interested in arts programming, event management and social activism
- Interested in creative blogging using writing, photography and film
- Responsible, reliable and punctual
- Ready for a new creative challenge
- Willing and able to commit to the dates outlined above, including the festival dates
The WOWsers programme will offer young people the opportunity to:
- Experience some of the best arts events in Perth - for free!
- Be part of a programme that will have a positive impact on the City of Perth
- Meet and host artists, activists and thinkers from around the world
- Contribute to events and discussions
- Meet and collaborate with other creative young people
- Network with other people working on WOW festivals around the world
The 10-week WOWsers programme will take place at Perth Theatre.

Please note: This is a voluntary position. Fees will not be paid to participants but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
