The Perks of Festival Friendship

Perth Festival of the Arts; that glorious display of international culture and talent that pops up in Perth City Centre every May. This year marks the  49th annual event and with the programme almost complete - well done Festival Programmer Helen MacKinnon - the stage has been well set for another triumphant success.

Like any Arts Charity, Perth Festival relies heavily on the generosity of funders and patrons.  They are fortunate, here in Perth, to receive support from The Gannochy Trust and Perth and Kinross Council, as well as ongoing private sponsorship from many local businesses including Parklands, Frames Gallery and Danscot print Ltd.

One group in particular though, has proven over the years that great things really do grow form small acorns.  The Festival Friends are people like you who choose to support the Festival by paying a small premium for early access to tickets and other benefits.  Just imagine - a link to tickets for Jools Holland a full week before the official sale date!

Helen MacKinnon, Festival Programmer told us:

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in the arts and see our Festival as an opportunity to bring enjoyment, inspiration, and conversation to our audiences."It is really important to the Festival committee that the arts are becoming more accessible to all. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in the arts and see our Festival as an opportunity to bring enjoyment, inspiration, and conversation to our audiences.

Funding and donations such as the Friends membership, allows us to develop a wide range of shows each year and bring new arts experiences to as many people as possible - for a price that they can afford.

It also enables us to organise several free events, particularly for children and young people. We have long-standing relationships with local schools and Scottish Opera which provide both performance and participation opportunities for young people of all ages."
