Sales and Admin Position, Perth City Centre

Small City, Big Personality

The Red String Agency is a busy PR & Marketing company based in the heart of Perth City Centre.  Working across Perthshire and into wider Scotland our aim is to deliver strategic, creative solutions for a broad mix of clients.

We also own and manage Small City, Big Personality, Perthshire’s only online magazine.  This growing media channel burst onto the scene only two years ago and has developed into one of the area’s most popular digital platforms.

Due to growth across both businesses, we have an opportunity for an experienced sales person to further expand our Small City brand and work with the editorial team to develop opportunities for our partners, and interesting, high quality content for our readers.   

The role will also involve assisting in research, sourcing materials for our clients’ projects and contributing to the team’s joint responsibility of office admin.

The successful candidate will have a friendly, outgoing personality and enjoy building relationships with new people.   Experience in a sales environment is essential with preference given to those with a media sales background.

  • Sales experience with references
  • Admin experience - either directly or as part of another role

Key Responsibilities

  • Selling advertising and sponsorship on the Small City, Big Personality platform (See our ‘Advertise With Small City’ page here>>>)
  • Selling advertising and sponsorship in our growing suite of mini magazines and offline opportunities
  • Building relationships with local business and charities, and maintaining contact with our strong, established network
  • Taking the sale from start to finish ensuring you always deliver on customer expectations
  • Meeting deadlines set
  • Working with the editorial team to ensure good quality, interesting and fun content remains at the heart of what we do
  • Assisting in the management of our current advertisers and ensuring their packages are delivered to a high standard
  • Assisting in non-sales activities and opportunities for both advertisers and other local people of interest
  • Assisting the marketing team with admin support to include collating information, sourcing images and text from third parties, delivery of offline materials, general filing.
  • Any other duties which management requires reasonable within the role.

Salary and Contract Term

Salary - £8 per hour with 15% commission on all sales generated.  (As a guide, we anticipate sales of circa £1k to £3K per month based on current figures.  There is no cap on earnings.)

This is a temporary position in the first instance and is a six month contract from October 2016 to March 2017.  Our expectation is that this will extend into a permanent role at which point salary would be reviewed based on performance.

The contract is for 15 – 20 hours per week.  Hours are flexible and we are happy to accommodate school times for working parents.  They must, however, be set over a minimum of three days, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.  You will be based in our Perth City Centre office.
