Two masterpieces performed by a remarkable group of musicians led by the incomparable Nicola Benedetti. Both Beethoven and Shostakovich wrote some of their very finest music for string quartet. The first Razumovsky quartet is on the same scale as the Eroica symphony and the Shostakovich packs an enormous emotional punch.
