Perth-based artist Susie Johnston will make new sculptural work for the festival...

using only discarded and unwanted waste materials found at the waste management site of the Binn Group, Shore Road, Perth.

Susie’s work explores the ways in which we find meaning through the use of metaphor. Drawn to the metaphoric qualities which certain they embody, Susie has worked with materials ranging from soap, blu-tack, truck inner tubes, stainless steel ball bearings, exploded objects, oil well pipe casings.

In responding to the Binn Group’s vision of Zero to Landfill by 2021, Susie uses a series of techniques such as mig welding, casting, stitching and building.

This Event is part of the wider Platform 2018 Festival
