I’m already feeling a little bit guilty about the festive season and it hasn’t even arrived yet. Between Christmas nights out with my mates, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and Hogmanay for most people it’s just weeks and weeks of gorging on delicious food and drinking plenty of booze – and I can’t wait!
If you’re dreading the thought of stepping on the scales in January and realising you’ve overdone it for yet another year, then maybe you should think about some preventative measures. No, I’m not talking about cutting back on the grub or the alcohol – don’t be silly. I’m talking about beating the January rush and getting yourself fit before you start tucking into the Christmas pudding.
We’re into the ten week countdown to the end of the year and what better way to start 2018 than going into the New Year feeling great without even the slightest bit of guilt from the festive period. The team at Live Active Leisure has created a pre-Christmas programme designed to help you improve your fitness in the lead up to the most wonderful time of the year.
The Fit for Festive 10 week membership started this week and runs until December 31st and comes with a full programme to help you make the most out of the period. And it’s a fantastic price as well, with all of the benefits you get as a Live Active member including rewards, unlimited access to all facilities and more.
You could even use the facilities to help you train for Perth’s Santa Run this December. The programme comes with a workout guide which includes an upper body, lower body and abs, and cardio and abs plan. Ideal for beginners who are maybe a little unsure about how to get the most out of the membership!
Graeme Lackie, Fitness Manager at Live Active Leisure, hopes that the Fit for Festive membership will see people turn out in numbers to keep themselves active during a period which is notorious for putting the feet up in front of the fire.
"Exercising regularly is important all year round but we wanted to encourage those who are not active to take advantage of our great fitness membership at a time of year where we traditionally have a 'snuggle up' mentality and eat more and do less! We look forward to welcoming lots of new and returning customers who are making a commitment to have a guilt free fun festive period!

The membership gives you the opportunity to use all of the classes that Live Active runs across all of their venues, including GRIT Strength, Body Pump and Pilates. Classes can be booked 14 days in advance and you can even do it online just to make it even easier for you to get in shape.
So, why not get yourself in shape well in advance and not have to worry about diving in for the second helpings on Christmas Day, or feel rubbish about scoffing a whole box of chocolates over the festive period. You could earn the right to indulge in as much delicious food and drink as you like, and at £44.95 it’s well worth giving it a go!

If you love skiing but hate the aches and pains that sometimes come with the winter sport, then you might want to consider a pre-ski season training programme to prepare your muscles for the strain that can be put on them while hurtling down the slopes at Glenshee.
